Professors always recommend backing all your important data in order to avoid any difficulties in future. The question is why this backing is necessary. Many times, we heard a story that the sole copy of someone’s thesis or other important document was damaged due to hard drive failure, computer virus or spyware arrack, etc. and retrieving that important data in your computer is an not an easy task. Organise all your data by course, semester, budget stuff, thesis, etc., which you think can help you to find your work in future easily. Check the importance of the file in order to arrange it according to the greater frequency and importance of backing it up. Do it your own way and be sure about everything you have done.
Choosing Backup Storage Media:
Now a days there are numerous types of Media that are used to back up your important work. Each type of storage media has its own pros and cons. There are two types of backup media, magnetic and optical. Magnetic media are floppy disks, USB, etc. these media are good to store data, but, they are at a risk to damage, data can be damaged if a magnet is passes close to it. An example of optical media is compact disk (CD). Magnetic media requires special care that’s why UIS always recommends using CDs to backup your work. It’s better to make two copies of your important work if you are using Magnetic media.

• Arrange all your data logically to in order to avoid any hurdles.
• It’s better to back up your data on CDs.
• Back up your data regularly!
