Learn Spanish on your Own With Books

It’s very possible to learn Spanish without taking classes and you can make just as much progress on your own as you would in a class. Though, this requires a lot of discipline and the ability to learn on your own. It also requires identifying which learning methods best suit you so you can apply them to when you start to learn Spanish.

One book that can be useful for beginners who want to learn Spanish is 1001 Most Useful Spanish Words (Beginners’ Guide), by Seymour Resnick. The book categorizes words in groups such as family, food and time. The words are also listed alphabetically like in a dictionary.

Another useful book to learn Spanish is 2000+ Essential Spanish Verbs: Learn the Forms, Master the Tenses, and Speak Fluently, put out by Living Language. This learn Spanish book is a comprehensive Spanish language resource covering everything to do with Spanish verbs — conjugations, irregular forms, and form tenses.

One book that is highly recommended for learning Spanish grammar and Spanish prepositions is Practice Makes Perfect by Dorothy Devney Richmond. There are three of these Spanish workbooks that I know of – one covers Spanish verb tenses, another Spanish pronouns and prepositions and the last one is a combined Spanish workbook of both.

If you love details, then you might be interested in a learn Spanish book called Spanish Grammar for Independent Learners by Arie Vicente. The book covers a lot on Spanish grammar and the information is neatly arranged for easy access.

For a taste of Spanish literature, try First Spanish Reader: A Beginner’s Dual Language Book, edited by Angel Flores. You will find stories old and new within its pages. You can learn Spanish almost effortlessly by reading these short stories and proverbs. The easiest ones are first, and more difficult verb tenses are used later on. The stories are interesting and make it fun to learn Spanish.

There are tons of learn Spanish books and guides designed for the self-taught Spanish language student. A good idea is to look up the Spanish language book online, on a site like Amazon.com and read the reviews and what others have to say about them.
